The U.P.'s Only Drive-In Theater
Donation protected
Hello friends!
In July the Tourism Action Committee of the Schoolcraft County Economic Development Corporation with the assistance of Limestone Federal Credit Union opened the Cinema 2 Drive In for a free, one-time showing of Back to the Future. If you managed to make it to this show you know that the response was overwhelmingly great. There has been high demand for us to open the drive in again for more shows. We would like to have more shows too.
We have received the go-ahead to have another show (or maybe more) but we are in need of a better projector to pull it off. Professional theater projectors sell for close to $100,000. We don't need that kind of projector but we need a much more powerful one than the one that we borrowed. We have a line on a professional projector (although not the $100K type) that we can purchase and install for around $2500. With this projector that video quality would be greatly enhanced and the overall drive in experience will be improved.
If we manage to get this projector we will have another show. Again this show will be free to the public. We would really like to squeeze another show in before the summer is over but we can't do it without your help.
We hope to find a way to acquire the drive in property some day so we can continue holding free drive in movie events from time-to-time. This new projector would help us take a step toward making that happen. We have enough donated funds to make a showing possible once again but not enough for the projector.
We now have a real theater popcorn popper to use in the concession stand and we may be able to offer hot dogs too. Of course we will have all of the candy and soft drinks we had the last time (although we will try to stock more so we don't run out again).
With your generous donation you will be able to say "I helped bring back the only drive in theater in the Upper Peninsula!"
We loved the drive in years ago and we bet you did too. Help us relive those bygone days. Help a new generation experience one of the greatest cultural phenomenons of the 20th century. We would be so grateful for any gift you can afford to make this happen.
Thank you all!
*This fundraiser is being undertaken by myself as an individual and is being done independently of the above mentioned groups. All proceeds will go to purchase the equipment we need and no money will be spent for personal gain nor will any excess go toward filling the coffers of any group or organiztion.
