Save Krystl's Horses!

Life can change in an instant. Imagine you are living your life as you are now. You are working, being active, being social, etc and then it is all taken away from you. You go from being able to do what you want and love, to feeling helpless and being terrified you will lose the things that you love. That’s why we are here, asking for your donations. We don’t want our beloved friend to lose something she loves due to tragic circumstances. No amount is too small. Please consider just a few dollars. Anything helps towards our goal!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story about Krystl. Those that know her well know her to be a kind, thoughtful, and loving soul that gives to others without hesitation. She is a loving mother, devoted wife, military veteran, and loyal friend to anyone lucky enough to have her as one. Her caring nature is put to good use working with special needs kids in a local elementary school. She has a work ethic matched by few that commands the respect of those around her. Outside of family and friends, her passion and love in her life are horses. She has two beauties that mean the world to her, Ziggy and Rocky.

Her mother was struggling with cancer and arthritis and couldn’t care for the two horses any longer. That’s when Krystl stepped up and offered to take both in and care for them. Caring for all 26 horses at the barn where Ziggy and Rocky are boarded is something that she loves doing, but it is also how she ensures she can meet the high cost of keeping her two horses there.

On June 28th, Krystl, her two boys, a friend, her husband, and their two dogs were on their way back from the Coast when tragedy struck. An elderly woman, texting and driving, faded into their lane and caused a head-on collision. Krystl’s SUV flipped 4 times, and fell down a steep embankment.

Krystl was the front passenger in the above car.

The impact of this horrible accident cannot be overstated. Fortunately, the rest of the family escaped with minor injuries (including the 2 dogs), but Krystl was severely injured and brought to a nearby hospital by life flight. After several surgeries and 6 pounds of titanium, the extent of her injuries hit her and her family and friends. She had a shattered right leg, separated ligament in her left leg, two broken feet, a compound fracture in her left arm, a broken sternum, and broken ribs.

She is to be wheelchair bound for 12 weeks with a recovery time of months with ultimate recovery prognosis being unclear. Imagine, an independent, hardworking person, that takes care of everyone and everything else around her is now unable to even care for herself. Devastating!

We are here to ensure that with all the horrible things that have happened and all the frustrations and challenges Krystl is facing, the one thing she doesn’t have to worry about are her two beloved horses. Her family and friends are doing the best they can to keep up with expenses and taking over as much responsibilities as possible, but they need help. Your donation will go directly to help pay for the boarding of the horses for the next year. This is the length of time the doctors have estimated she could return to the barn and begin working there again.
