On Aug 10th Dima (Dmitriy) and his family were on vacation in Florida. They were on the beach when Dima saw a swimmer struggling to stay above water. He had seen a similar sight just the day before when he rescued someone out of the water. So naturally, without thinking twice he jumped in to save one more life. Thinking it was another stranger actually turned out to be his own brother in law. Dima went into the water to rescue another life and lost his in doing so. Dima's body was recovered on the morning of Aug 11.
Dima was a husband to his wife, Nastya, and a father of three kids and a grandfather to one. He loved his children deeply and devoted much time, love, and effort in raising them well. Whether that meant going to play a sport together, building a shed, or conversing over life matters. He also loved his extended family and friends and was always quick to open up his home to anyone. He had a heart for people and ultimately was willing to give up his life for another, because of his love for the Lord.
Dima was also the sole financial provider in the home and this tragedy will be a very hard hit to the family. There will be a large cost associated in bringing the body back to Minnesota, as well as the other funeral costs. So we ask you to please join in the effort to alleviate some of the financial burden from the family. Whatever money is left will go to help Anastasiya and the kids in the grieving months ahead.
Funeral for Dima will be held on August 20th at 9am (visitation at 8am) at the Russian Baptist Church 1205 E. 10th Avenue, Shakopee, MN 55379.
The funeral will be streamed live at http://www.evangelistmn.com/video-stream/
