“Friends of Capehart Off-Leash Dog Park” have been raising funds to make major improvements to our dog park and restore it to its former healthy state. The park is used daily by many dogs along with their two-legged friends.  It is not only a place for the dogs to play and exercise, but is also a gathering place for human social interaction. Many friendships have developed here over the years.

We need your help to fund additional projects.

Please contribute to our campaign.  Any amount will help; for example, $5 can buy almost 15 sq. ft. of sod.  Make sure that you identify “your park area of choice” on your donation, i.e., “Capehart Small Dog Area” or “Capehart Large Dog Area.

The park is divided into two areas – one for large dogs - approx. 12,000 SF and the other for small dogs - approx. 5,820 SF.  Before we started our improvement campaign, the parks had become an unhealthy dust bowl, void of any vegetation and not fit for man nor beast.  Now that the City’s drought restrictions have been eased, the Small Dog Area of the park is once again being irrigated on a regular basis.  Thanks to generous contributions to our GoFundMe campaign we raised the funds needed to re-sod the Small Dog Area. The City’s Parks & Rec Department installed the sod at the end of September, 2016 and now we have a healthy Small Dog Area once again.  We chose the Small Dog Area re-sodding project as our first effort because it required less funding then many of the other needed projects.

Now that our initial project has come to fruition, we hope to raise funds needed for shade structures for both areas, some ground cover for the Large Dog Area, additional trees, and other needed improvements.  Our initial campaign collected over $4,000 for the Small Dog Area and we have projected a need of an additional $16,000 for these projects. The sooner we acquire the funds, the sooner we can create our vision for a great dog park for all.

We have partnered with the Pacific Beach Town Council a 501(c)3 a non-profit where your contribution will go to improving the area of your choice* and will be tax deductible.

Our four- and two-legged friends thank you for your generous contributions towards making Capehart Dog Park one of the best dog parks in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego.

*A limited amount of the funds raised may be used for the common areas of the park if needed.

If you have any questions or you would like to be placed on the Park email list, please email us via GoFundMe.
