On Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at approximately 11:00 am, my brother Todd was shot and senselessly killed in a small suburb of Detroit. Our family, friends and community are devastated, shocked and deeply saddened at the sudden and tragic loss of this caring soul. The quick response and decisive actions of the Michigan State Police Department have resulted in the apprehension of the suspect who committed such a heinous act. It is our sincere hope and prayer that the sword of justice will be swift and sharp.

Todd was an endearing and devoted husband to his wife Yvette and a caring father to his two sons Tyler and Tavis. He was a self-employed licensed contractor for the past 25 years, building a modest but comfortable home for his wife and children. In addition to Todd’s work, he was actively involved in every aspect of his son's lives; from their schooling, extracurricular activities and serving as the assistant coach on their baseball team, he was ever-present.

Todd was truly loved by everyone, but none more than the young men he coached and mentored on a daily basis. Being raised by a single mother, Todd understood the importance of positive male role models, and committed his life to the support and outreach of our youth. Never one to miss an opportunity to connect, uplift and enrich a child’s life, Todd was affectionately given the nickname of “Pops”. Pops was always generous with his time, resources, and words of wisdom. He was extremely loyal and supportive to anyone he considered family or friend.

As each day passes, the realization that life must go on without Todd, has been the most difficult thing to accept. Understanding that his wife is now a widow and his children are fatherless, is truly heartbreaking. We are most certainly comforted by the love, kind words and condolences we have received from our friends and extended family, however we also decided to create this campaign as a way for people to show love and support to his children Tyler and Tavis; by contributing to the future cost of their college education.

If you are not able to contribute financially and would like to help in another way, we encourage you to share this campaign link within your networks or donate in any way you feel comfortable.
