Juan Jasso made global headlines in June 2016 when he was racially abused on a Manchester tram in the wake of the Brexit poll.
Despite being of Mexican-American heritage and living in England for 18 years, he was told to "go back to Africa".
What many did not realise at the time was that Mr Jasso had been pivotal of the expansion of the game of Rugby League into Latin American communities.
He was the coach of the first all-Latino Rugby League team to compete in the USA and has been a coach which numerous teams throughout England, including the London Broncos.
An opportunity has now presented itself for Juan to referee the first Rugby League tournament played in South America between Argentina, Brazil and Chile, taking place on November 12-13.
With his outstanding knowledge of the game and his Spanish language skills, he will be the perfect individual for the occasion.
The Rugby League International Federation has approved Juan's appointment to the tournament, but due to a lack of funding for developing nations, his flights will come down to personal expense.
As Juan has a young daughter to care for and is not endowed with finances, we at Latin Heat Rugby League are raising the sum to ensure he can grab this opportunity.
Let us show him the true heart of the community.
