Zack's Expenses

Donation protected
On August 13th, 2016, Zack Livesay was doing mechanical work on his truck. He was laying under the truck, which is somewhat lowered, when the jack tilted sideways and the truck landed on his chest and abdomen. His brother, Jared, happened to come home soon after it fell and saw what had happened. Zack was still responsive when Jared found him. He and his mom tried to turn the jack back upright to lift the truck off him, but they were unable to. Jared ran to their neighbor's house and called 911 on the way there. His neighbors helped jack the truck up off Zack with another car jack, but it was still laying on him. By this time, Zack was unresponsive. Police officers soon arrived followed by paramedics and other emergency workers. They were able to get the truck off him and pull him out. He had already gone into both cardiac and respiratory arrest. The paramedics immediately started CPR. He was rushed to Holston Valley Medical Center. On the way, the paramedics were able to revive him. He started fighting the paramedics when they were putting a breathing tube in him because he was unaware of what was going on, so they sedated him. He is currently in SICU. He has been sedated since the trip to the hospital. He sustained three cracked ribs and possibly brain damage due to the brain being oxygen deprived for an estimated ten minutes. EEG's are going to be administered daily to monitor brain activity. We are currently still unsure of his brain activity because the first test has not yet been reviewed. I am McKenzie Fleming, Zack's girlfriend of 3 years. He is the son of Jeff Greer, a Hawkins County sheriff's deputy, and Linda Greer. We are in need of funds to help pay for Zack's medical expenses, truck payments, and other expenses. His family is currently trying to come up with funds, but is unable to.  We would like to have the funds available for him when he is taken off the sedatives, so he is not burdened with bills. The doctors have said that this will be a very long journey, so he will be out of work for an extended period of time, if not permanently. Zack is an amazing person and is always willing to help anyone. He is loved by so many people. We want to help him as much as we possibly can and any amount of money will mean the world. If you are not able to donate, prayers will be appreciated. We have already received overwhelming support and we could not be any more grateful. Thank you so much for reading Zack's story and God bless.
