Throckmorton/Nelson Louisiana Flood
Donation protected
Hey y'all. My name is Kerri Throckmorton. I am the daughter-in-law to Karen and Richard Throckmorton, sister-in-law to Leanne and Craig Nelson, and auntie to their 4 young children: 3 boys age 10, 9, 6 and girl age 3. My husband Kyle and I, with our 7 week old son Luke, live in Baton Rouge.
My in-laws, Karen and Richard Throckmorton, and my sister-in-law and her family, Craig and Leanne Nelson and their kids were devasated by the floods in Louisiana.
Karen and Richard have been in their home for more than 40 years. Their house isn't in the designated flood zone so they don't have flood insurance. They watched as the water rose, taking their neighbors houses one by one, until finally reaching their home. The neighborhood had to be evacuated by boat. They were able to raise some of the furniture but they are going to need to gut the house and replace the walls and floors.
Craig, Leanne, and their children have lost everything in the flood, including a place to live. The water was up to about 4 feet in their house. The water came so fast, Leanne barely had time to grab her children and get out. Leanne found out her renter's insurance doesn't cover flood damage. They are at a total loss, everything will need to be replaced. They don't have a home to live in anymore and Leanne is currently looking for an apartment for her family of 6.
Any amount you can donate to my family will be greatly appreciated. Kyle and I, along with our baby, were fortunate to have escaped the flood with no damage. It was terrifying to watch the water rise and have no idea if it would be destroying everything we own. It's heartbreaking to see our family lose everything. We sincerely thank you for your generosity.
All of the donations will be given to Karen (she has all access) for her and Leanne to use for whatever they need it for; rebuilding the Throckmorton house, finding a new rental for the Nelsons, new furniture, applicances, home goods, clothes, school supplies for the kids, etc.
