Vigilant Vet Racing

Donation protected
Vigilant Vet Racing (VVR) is a not-for-profit effort to get disabled Veterans involved with recreational ATV riding and cross-country racing as a form of self-therapy. We are also very concerned about and aim to raise awareness of PTSD which affects over 20% of our Veterans returning home from deployment.

VVR's experience thus far is that ATV riding and cross-country racing helps to bring excitement back into the lives of our Veterans. Often, Veterans turn to personally destructive lifestyles when they return home, such as alcohol, drugs, extramarital affairs, etc. Although there are several reasons that can cause this behavior, we believe that there is one common denominator among our Combat Vets. Essentially, our theory is that Vets become so accustomed to the constant flow of adrenaline while deployed, they feel a significant void once they return home. This void haunts them until they find something that can satisfy their needs.

Riding and racing ATVs can help fill this void as well as provide a few other benefits. For example, the ATV riding and racing scene is very family-oriented and can require time away from the Veteran's home and in the outdoors. Participating in these events forces the family to put things on hold for a day or two and go out and enjoy each other, re-bond and heal.

WHAT YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED FOR
Your money will go toward getting Veterans out on the trails and supporting our mission. We are currently working toward gaining 501(c)(3) status with the IRS but in the meantime, we need money to get our Veterans out riding.

VVR currently has a double-amputee Veteran who wants to get into cross-country racing. He already has an ATV however, it needs many repairs as well as modifications so that the Veteran can ride it safely. VVR has teamed up with Waynesburg Yamaha in Waynesburg, PA who volunteered and donated the labor costs for us on this project. We are attempting to get some discounts on the parts required to make this bike build happen however, even with a discount, these are still very costly.

Money raised from this particular effort will go toward paying 100% of the cost of parts for this Veteran's ATV. Anything above and beyond the cost of the parts will be put toward building this very young charity, 100%.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
