I am raising money for my husband, Gordon, because he is permanently disabled. He was diagnosed with atypical face pain in 2012. This may not sound like something severe, but it is very debilitating. He has had a surgery, placing an artificial mesh in his face, with no success. He has been on multiple medications that have not helped but have given him severe side effects. At this time, no medical treatments or procedures have helped him.
This is a debilitating disorder, which causes him to have severe facial pain that lasts for weeks and sometimes months with no relief. This makes him unable to function most of the time. The more active he is, the worse the pain becomes. Sometimes he goes for weeks without being able to do anything. And it is not only physically debilitating but is emotionally very hard on him and gives him a very grim outlook on life.
He is permanently disabled and not able to work due to this and has outstanding medical bills. We currently live with his father, as my income alone is insufficient, which is even more so now due to recent pay cuts and reduced hours. My family has given me land, but we have no means to put a home on it. The only outlook we have is staying with my husband's father.
Gordon is a proud man and has never asked anyone for help. It is extremely difficult for him to allow me to do this for him. He has always been there for anyone who has ever needed him. Years ago, he even served as a volunteer fireman for several years and was awarded a Medal of Valor from the state of Pennsylvania. He was also honored with a Citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on 10/3/1995.
We would appreciate anything that anyone could contribute to help us. I have also written a poetry book, and all the proceeds from this book will go toward his outstanding and future medical bills. If you would like to purchase this book, here is the link. http://amzn.to/2bvC074
His condition is lifelong and he will always have to be under a doctor's care for this. We would ultimately like to pay off his outstanding medical bills and have money set aside for the inevitable future medical bills as well as hopefully having a place to live.
Whatever money we would receive immediately would go to pay outstanding medical bills. And whatever money or help we get, will not only help financially but would go even further emotionally for my husband, knowing there are good people out there and that there is hope for the future. And when the pain is too intense, he can always look back and reflect on how gracious people were.
We would appreciate any help we receive and ask that you share this with as many people, family and friends, as you can. We thank you so much for your help. I know atypical face pain doesn't sound severe, but I have witnessed firsthand how severe it is and how much it takes a toll on my husband and makes him have no quality of life.
He recently had a treatment in the hospital to target the nerve in his face in hopes of getting some relief. It unfortunately aggravated his condition even more, making him black out several times since then due to the severity of the pain. The doctor had no idea that this would happen as his case is extreme.
So please, if there is anything anoyone could do to help us, we would truly appreciate it. And we would be very grateful if you would share this with as many people as possible. Even if all you can give are words of encouragement, I could read them to him as sometimes his pain is too intense to concentrate to read. He feels ashamed letting me do this, but he is having such a hard time coping with the medical bills, pain, and his outlook on life and the future. We would appreciate anything you can do to help. Thank you again.
