Help Mitch get back on his $$ feet
Donation protected
We are putting this campaign on hold, due to response!
Mitch was born with spina bifida, a condition where his spinal cord is not fully enclosed by his backbone. I first met Mitch when I moved into his small town, and we attended the sixth grade together. He had already gone through a series of surgeries, and was using a wheelchair to assist with his mobility. Even then, he kept a smile on his face, and would keep those around him smiling with his good spirits and humor.
Over the years he would go through a total of 12 major surgeries, endless months of physical therapy, countless doctor appointments, loss of sensation in his lower extremities, phantom pains, and a gradual loss of mobility.
With pain and roadblocks thrown in his way, he continued to do what he wanted to do. I never heard him say “I can’t” in word or action. He has played little league baseball and soccer, competed in marathons, gone scuba diving, played paintball, gone shooting, rode mountain bikes, done graphic design, gone to college, fished in Alaska, interned for a radio station, done standup comedy, and hiked mountains.
Most adults with spina bifida live close to family. Mitch has achieved his goal of living independently away from family by moving 800 miles from home. He has over 4,000 hours in 10 years of Volunteer Service at the Salem Hospital in Oregon. He has worked to support himself, pushing himself harder than many without his obstacles. He has worked retail sales, been a guide in an art museum, been a manager in a grocery store, a site guard for a brine shrimp company, worked for Wal-Mart, and is currently a computer support technician.
As many of you know, any medical issue is costly. Over the last few years, rising medical costs and additional medical issues have pulled Mitch into a financial hole.
He could use your help to get on his financial feet.
There have been questions about the tax deductibility of donations to help Mitch. We have not set up an official organization, and donations are considered personal gifts, which are not tax deductable.

He has a more complete list of terms and conditions.
To thank you for your support, we have some thank you levels:
Every $25 minimum donation will be entered into a drawing for a thank you gift. These thank you gifts currently include books and posters from the first edition Christmas Noun Collection from Larry Correia. There will also be one "Red Shirt" drawn from this donation level.
Every $50 minimum donation will be entered for the previous drawing, plus a drawing including Leather bound Special Editions of one of Larry Correia’s works. There will also be one "Red Shirt" drawn from this donation level.
At a $150 minimum donation, contributors will be entered into both drawings, plus be able to be a “Red Shirt” in an upcoming work by Larry Correia. “Red Shirting” is using your name in an upcoming work. Due to artistic concerns, we cannot promise a position as a hero, villain, bystander, dark god, rock star, light god, monster, or other any other position. We also cannot promise the size of roll, survival, death, profession, condition of teeth, or any other attribute.
This can take some time (the last red shirt name list took more than four years to get through).
In order to be entered for the drawings, use your name in your donation. (Edit: Send your bio info and answers to [email redacted].)
submit your name, donation amount, and email address.
For those donating at the “Red Shirt” level, use your name in your donation. Then click on the email symbol next to Mitch Walters name near the top of the web page and submit your name, donation amount, and email address. (Edit: Send your bio info and answers to [email redacted].

2. Are you willing to be a villain?
3. Do you have a series preference?
4. A short bio of yourself, if desired. This information may or may not appear in your “Red Shirt” experience.
5. An email address in case there are any further questions.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, and to Larry Correia for being willing to provide the “Red Shirts” openings. Thank you!
