Ecuador Earthquake Relief
Donation protected
Hello, This Is Irina Falconi and Travis Hartman and we are raising money to send to the people most affected by the earthquake in Ecuador. We live in the United States and will personally be delivering the funds.
Irina is a professional tennis player that was born in Portoviejo, Ecuador. It was the city that was hit hardest by the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake and Irina still has many family members still living in Ecuador. She moved to the United States when she was three years old and proudly plays for the USA, but she is still a proud Ecuadorian/American and when the tragedy struct Ecuador she immediately wanted to help the country where she was born.
Falconi was recently honored by her birth country as the highest ranking womens professional tennis player in the history of the country. She flew over last November with her family and boyfriend to accept the great honor and award. She was able to visit her house that she was born in and recently found out that it was also destroyed in the recent earthquake. So now, she wants to help give back and raise money to help the people of Ecuador. Irina has agreed to match anything rasied by this GoFundMe project up to $5,000 in which all the proceeds will go directly to organizations helping with food and clothing for the people affected by the earthquakes.
Irina recently won her first ever WTA Singles title April 17 in Bogota, Colombia and dedicated her victory to the Ecuadorian people. It was a bitter sweet win for Falconi because moments after her victory she immediately told the press it was hard to gloat about such a huge accomplishment knowing the death toll was still climbing from the earthquakes. She is very passionate about this project and encourages everyone to help in anyway you can.
Irina has also agreed to donate the shoes and tennis racket with her signature on both in which she used to win her first WTA title to the highest donation.
**After much consideration, Irina and Travis have decided to donate the money to UNICEF, and plan to head down there potentially after Wimbledon, to volunteer our services and help those families in need!**
