Widow of 2 wks lost home in Hermine
Donation protected
At 3:30 am on September 1st, Jennie stood on her table willing the water to recede, even as the boat pulled up amidst 60+ per mile winds she clung to the hope that somehow what was left would be spared. Steady hands pulled her into an unsteady boat as she pitched toward a life unknown. Bare feet, gale winds and a lifetime sinking around her.
Sadly, mother nature is as powerful as she is unforgiving in a storm.
“I buried Kenny two weeks ago and went through every item of this home. I had a hard time choosing and ended up keeping most everything… they all have memories attached, you know.”
Jennie, a nurse of more than 30 years for the disabled, had been caring for her husband Ken for the past 5 years as he survived several rounds of treatment for colon cancer, finally succumbing and joining the Lord, less than two weeks before Hurricane Hermione.
"She has lost everything. She had no flood insurance and is now homeless. And she is the type of woman that would do anything for anyone, anytime. I ask for your help in this desperate time of need for my mother, grandmother and friend to all. Our goal is $30,000 to help her start over and cover the expenses for flood clean up, damaged floors, furniture, kitchen necessities, cupboards and appliances. The list of needs is daunting. Any amount that you can share would be greatly appreciated," said Amber Chiapetta, her daughter.
She is kind, giving, joyful and generous even when spent, but now is when she needs her friends, family and community to rally around her. Please, no donation is too small, and acts of service, skill and kindness are just as needed and appreciated.
Please take the time to care for a caregiver who has never asked for herself. Let’s rebuild or find Jennie a new home to be proud of, to cherish as a gift of the love of everyone around her.
Thank you everyone who has taken the time to read about Jennie and her story. Please share it, pray for her spirit and donate if you can.
