Weird Folk Fest  is thrilled to present the 2nd annual Queer Qarnival : a substance-free community-based Pride alternative celebrating LGBTQ arts and education. This celebration of intersectional queerness will be held at Make Shift Boston on Saturday June 29th, 2019!

In its second year, Queer Qarnival will be even bigger than its first year, with 13 confirmed mainstage performances including the return of poet and singer Black Bear Extraordinaire . Red Sage Stories , a local theatre troupe who’s work is based on listening to your narrative is also returning.

Additionally, we will have music and poetry performances by Genie Santiago, Mick Beth, Golden , John-Francis Quinonez, Ideas Not Theories, Ally Ang, and so many more!

Pride Month is upon us, and in Boston, we see a shortage of spaces that are Queer-friendly, sober friendly, and showcase the work of locally-based Queer people of color and trans women. With this in mind, it is extremely important that we bring this festival back for a second year.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Mass Cultural Council Festivals Grant and a recent fundraiser concert, we have already raised about 730 dollars to pay for this event. This will cover about half of our mainstage performances at $100 per performance.

We need additional funds to pay all performers, for art supplies for the community mural, food for the performers and vendors, printing costs, a sound system rental, ASL and CART services to help our event be more accessible for our deaf Queer family.

Thanks to the incredible support from our community network last year, Weird Folk Fest was able to launch our first Queer Qarnival, and we hope that YOU and our communities combined can make this celebration come true this year! Share widely and don't forget to #supportcommunitycuration

With gratitude, joy,  and anti-capitalist Pride,
