Help Me Get To Perth For Unigames
Hi everyone, my name is Yarramun Conole! I'm a first year, Aboriginal student currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. I've been selected to attend the national 2016 Australian University Games in Perth. I'll be competing in women's softball and representing Melbourne University Softball Club. I've been playing softball for about 10 years now and have played previously for Syndal Softball Club (Waverley) and Geelong Cougars. Softball is my passion in life and to be playing it at such an elite level is something that makes me really proud of myself. I experienced a lot of hardship during Semester 1, 2016 which heavily impacted upon my ability to participate in the things I loved doing and ultimately playing softball for my university. I struggled a lot with my mental health in that period. However despite this, I made a comeback in Semester 2 and am now on my way to healing. I see participating in the Australian University Games playing a major part in that healing and recovery process. Though, one of the major barriers that's stopping me participating in the games in the cost. I am attempting to raise $1500, all of which will go towards flights, accommodation, food, sporting gear and other essential living costs whilst in Perth. This opportunity means the world to me and I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can contribute to making it a reality for me.
