In 2011 Allison graduated from Fluvanna County High School, and had been accepted to Radford University to persue a degree in Education. She was a premier level club soccer player, and Jefferson All District High School soccer player. She was a youth soccer coach, winning two consecutive championships being not only the youngest coach in the county, but the youngest, and first, to win while coaching her first season, and two consecutive seasons in a row. She was a member of a church youth group with whom she went on mission trips and holiday giving events. She was also a summer counselor at our local YMCA. She had an adoring love for children, and it was her desire to become a teacher, specializing in special education. Allison was constantly reaching out to those in need, offering her love, support and boundless energy. Often times she'd be doing chores for those unable to achieve them themselves.
Allison lived with such a beautiful enthusiasm for life, and heartwarming love for those around her. She embodied a giving, empathetic loving spirit and shared her heart and compassion with anyone she encountered. She also had a love for all animals, and her desire to care for them was endless.
Sadly, Allison passed away as a result of an automobile accident on August 25th, 2011, on the eve before she was to leave for her freshman year at Radford University. The ache of her absense has been tremendous. Her presense is missed by so many she touched, those who knew her, and even those who only heard of her.
The Allison Buck Memorial Scholarships were created with her caring, giving, enthusiastic, and loving spirit, to carry on her dreams, and her legacy, by giving to these very deserving individuals.
100% of all funds raised for the Allison Buck Scholarships are distributed to 2 Senior Athletes, from Fluvanna County High School, as well as travel and recreation scholarships for Fluvanna Youth Soccer Association.
There is also an annual event held called Alli Fun Day, and to date, between this Go Fund Me account and the 4 previous Alli Fun Day events, we have raised a total of $20,000 in scholarships for FCHS seniors and FYSA soccer players. Please consider helping us reach our goal of $25,000 this year.
In addition to the scholarships, the Fun Day event hosts other issues that were so dear to Alli's heart. The Fluvanna SPCA holds a puppy booth at the event, and to date 11 dogs have found furever homes; additionally, we hold "Allison's Grocery Bag", which is a food and supplies drive for our local food bank, and the FSPCA. Last year's event totaled 22 bags of donated non parishable foods for the food bank, and 6 bags of supplies an food for the FSPCA.
We want to continue to grow Allison's scholarships for the deserving individuals awarded them, and hope with the food drive and additional fund raising, we can even go beyond that.
Alli Fun Day this year is being held on November 5, 2016 at Fluvanna's Pleasant Grove, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please consider donating to the scholarships, and even visiting the event. It's a FUN DAY for the whole family.
This is all for the community that Alli loved so much, and was such a vital part of, in her too short 18 years. It is all in honor and memory of Allison. Your consideration and contributions are greatly appreciated by us and each of the the scholarship recipients.
THANK YOU!
