Commuter Van Action Fund

Over the past 28 months the Commuter Van Association of New York (CVANY) has worked aggressively with State and City elected officials, consultants, attorneys and New York City community leaders to level the playing field for commuter vans and remove some of the many decades old outdated regulations that have placed a strangle hold on this very vital industry’s successes. Recently our hard work cumulated in the passage of, and the Governor signing into law A5627/S5825. This bill would once again allow Commuter Vans to have “Livery” plates, which more accurately reflect our business model.
Our hard work is not over however. CVANY is working hard to pass legislation in the New York City Council that would revoke the six year reauthorization that is not required for any other TLC-licensed for-hire vehicle, eliminate the prearrangement and passenger manifest requirements and increase fines for illegal operators that jeopardize everyone’s safety.
As you can imagine, this fight is not cheap and CVANY has incurred debts in excess of $100,000. We are as close as ever to helping to bring about historical changes in commuter van regulations that will benefit all operators, companies and riders. We will not be able to continue the fight without funds. We are seeking the support of all operators, companies, and supporters to as much as possible contribute to this NEEDED FUND to keep fighting for needed changes.
Your generous contribution will be greatly appreciated and will play an integral role in the growth and development of Safe, Reliable, Efficient and cost effective van service in New York.
While we are seeking the support of those in the industry, we ask commuter van riders, who appreciate the safe, reliable and efficient service we provide, to contribute $2.00 to the cause.
Thank you.
