A Gift Of Healing For Patti Danos
Donation protected
Our dear friend Patti Danos has had a grueling past two years: hard hits to her home, her health, and her business.
Now, Patti is just days away from losing her condo in Chicago. And, sadly, she and Bo, her beloved Welsh Terrier rescue pup, have nowhere to go.
If that weren’t enough, Patti is also dealing with two chronic neurologic disorders, both currently resisting treatments. Even with insurance, this had led to staggering hospital and medical bills. (Five MRIs alone broke the bank.) Additionally, it’s preventing Patti, a brilliant freelance writer and publicist, from being able to work consistently, if at all.
Because of Patti’s fierce optimism, stamina, and independence, she has always hesitated to ask for help. Yet, she never fails to be there for others. Odds are, in fact, she has been there for you, whether recently or in the past.
So, today, we’d like to turn the tables. We want to help Patti. And we’re casting a wide net, asking you to consider helping her, too. Please.
Every contribution can make a difference. And the power of a personal “Like,” share, or tweet could help tremendously. Together, we can rally round Patti and really make this happen.
How we can help Patti right now
Unfortunately, Patti’s herculean efforts to stay in her home and pay off her medical bills have eaten through her life savings. Our goal, then, is to offer her immediate financial support, helping her meet her most urgent needs, both now and over the next few months.
Specifically, we want to raise no less than $29,000 to cover relocation; a new place for Patti and Bo to live; basic health care and insurance; an installment on past medical bills; and a reboot of Patti’s business, among other things. That way, we can give Patti a gift of healing and peace of mind, along with a path to a fresh start.
Sample expenses and estimates:
· Moving and storage expenses ($3,000)
· New apartment startup costs ($3,500)
· Rent and utilities ($10,000)
· Health care and insurance ($1,500)
· Installment on past medical bills ($7,500)
According to GoFundMe, the two best ways to have a successful campaign are to:
1. Share with family and friends on Facebook (This increases donations by a whopping 350%.)
2. Share the unique GoFundMe link through email, text messages, and other social networks
Throughout all of this, Patti continues to model grace and grit and, as always, good humor. It’s our goal to simply lighten her load as she finds the way forward. We know she can, and will.
With hope, faith, and gratitude,
Cathy Lewis, Julianne Klenn, Meda Hatcher, Barbara Montgomery, Karen Pfendler, Bruce Rosenstein, and Maren Showkeir
