Nicholas Ursiny Memorial Commission
Donation protected
In June 2016 the Kiski Area School District lost a young man to a tragic accident. Nicholas Ursiny was going into his sophomore year at Kiski Area. He was a member of the horn/mellophone section in the Kiski Area Bands. All of those associated with our organization and school are saddened by his loss.
Our 2016 marching band student leadership, working with the Directors (Robert Traugh, Chad Heiny, and Shawn Pityk), developed the idea to create a memorial of music by commissioning the composition of a new piece of music in memory of Nicholas.
We hope to be able to raise the funds needed by December 2016 to begin this process and engage a composer. Information on the commission composer will be available as soon as we have the funds to move forward. Once completed, the piece will be premiered in concert by members of the Kiski Area Bands. Please follow along for updates to this project.
Our project is simple and heartfelt, offering the opportunity for all who were shocked by this tragedy to create a lasting memorial through music to a life lost too soon.
