Police Chaplain Bulletproof Vest

Hello Family and Friends...
Everyone who knows me knows how much I love and treasure my husband, Jeb Dotson.  This January we will celebrate 24 years of marriage. We have two beautiful children, Hannah (age 20) and Aaron (age 13).

In January 2014 we became the pastors at Crockett First Assembly. Last year Jeb felt strongly led to become a Police Chaplain with the Crockett Police Department and even went through special Chaplaincy Training School to be better equipped when in the field with the other officers.

Police chaplains serve in a wide variety of ways. They may be called upon to assist in death notifications, assist and support victims in times of crisis, respond to suicide incidents, and serve as part of a crisis response team. They visit sick or injured personnel, are a resource for counseling for members of the agency and their families, and serve as a liaison with other clergy in the community. They are called upon to deliver the invocation or benediction at public ceremonies as representatives of the police department. They also are on hand to serve inside the police department.

One of the things that Jeb loves best is riding with the officers each week and being able to assist and help diffuse potential hostile situations, which brings me to the point of this letter.

Times are tough, I don't have to tell anyone that. You have watched the news, read the papers and seen news feeds on your phone... In order to do his job effectively and safely as a police chaplian, it was recommended to Jeb to purchase a bullet proof vest to wear while he is in the field. Because of the lack of funding the city receives, the department was not able to purchase this vest for him.

Because of the rising threats to local law enforcement, and wanting to ensure the safety of our Pastor (and my husband) our church went ahead and bought the bullet proof vest for $1075.

This was not a small purchase for our church and so I am appealing to friends, family and those in the community who know Jeb and believe in what he is doing as a Police Chaplain for the Crockett Police Department.

Matthew 5:9 says "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God."

If you could help with a gift of $5, $10, $25, $50 or more to help cover this necessary cost to keep Jeb safe, I would be eternally grateful, my children would be grateful and the church would be grateful.  If you can't give, please pray for Jeb! That is the greatest gift of all!

Love to all!
