Tucker needs your help!

Tucker worked for 11 years with Conservation Canines, through the Center for Conservation Biology at the University of Washington.  He gave his whole career to helping endangered and threatened animals all over North America.  He has worked with wolves, caribou, and moose in Northern Alberta and iguanas in St Lucia. The majority of his career has been spent trying to help researchers with the Southern Resident killer whales of the Salish Sea, in Washington State. Here is a link to his work:  Tucker, the whale sniffing dog - BBC Natural World.

Tucker was recently diagnosed with Primary Hyperparathyroidism. It's a disease that has impacted one of his four parathyroid glands, causing it to become enlarged. When the gland gets too large, it causes an excess of calcium in his blood. This can cause kidney stones, kidney disease, high blood pressure, loss of bone density and heart disease. Here is a quick link that describes what is happening to him: Primary Hyperparathyroidism.

The below photo is Tucker's ultrasound, showing the enlarged gland.

Unfortunately, the only way to treat the disease, is through a very expensive surgery.  This is where you come in!!

The funds will go directly to paying for his x-rays and ultrasounds for his diagnosis,  the surgery to cure him of the disease, post op care, blood work to monitor his calcium levels, and follow up veterinarian care to make sure his body is healing.  The surgery cures approximately 95% of all cases of Primary Hyperparathroidism.

Please help me give Tucker the healthy quality of life that he deserves in his retirement.  He has touched so many lives and has made so many people smile. I've become a better person, detection dog handler, scientist, and owe so much to him from our very special bond as partners.

Tucker and I have been so blessed to be a part of this community and cannot thank you all enough for being a part of our lives over the years.

Thank you so much! Tucker and I wish each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season.
