Loss of newlywed on honeymoon

Star-gazing proves fatal for honeymooner
Tragically, our friend, teammate, son, brother, and newlywed Doug Dietz was taken from us too soon this week. On his honeymoon in New Zealand with his beautiful bride Kathleen, Doug lost his life in a car accident while going out to look at the stars in the southern hemisphere, something he loved to do. He was only 29 years young.
Doug loved playing softball in the Congressional Softball League with his team of the last seven years, the Southern Aces. He just played in the tournament a few short weeks ago.
Although they have been together for several years, Doug and Kathleen were just staring their lives together as a married couple. Doug started a new job in DC and together they bought a house earlier this year in Alexandria, VA.
We, his teammates and friends, are truly heartbroken. We will make a fitting tribute by changing our team name to Doug’s Southern Aces.
The team also wanted to setup this page as a venue for others touched by Doug’s spirit to lend moral and financial support to Kathleen in her time of need. All funds raised here will go to her.
We will miss you Dougy.
