Hurricane Matthew Haiti Fund
Donation protected
Children's Hope is a non-profit organization based out of Sacramento that serves Haiti's most vulnerable children. Our efforts over the years have included, but are not limited to, visiting and providing aid to the Mabe Orphanage, Mother Theresa's Baby Hospital (caring for terminally ill babies), the Lamp Clinic and Sakala in Cite Soleil (Haiti's poorest and most notorious slum), as well as Wings of Hope (a home for disabled children). (See update #3 in our profile for a list of specific supplies we will use the funds for.)
Hurricane Matthew has caused the worst humanitarian
crisis since the 2010 earthquake. We are very concerned for all those at risk in Haiti, especially those who live at sea level in Cite Soleil and Jacmel. Not only are families in these low lying areas most at risk,
least likely to have access to food and clean water, they are also those least able to afford to evacuate. Additionally, a resurgence of cholera seems likely.
Thankfully, and because of you, we just sent Maco, our orphanage director back to Haiti with a power inverter and a generator for MABE orphanage; hopefully he can get through to Haiti from Florida. However, if the Lamp Clinic, Sakala, and Wings of Hope (just to name a few) survive this assault, they will also need our help more than ever.
If you can, please donate (any amount!!) and forward this message to your friends and family. We have no corporate support, Paul Burke and Leisa Faulkner do hand-carry aid directly to the poorest of the poor, into places that often even the American Red Cross will not go to.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Our hearts break as yet another natural disaster hits Haiti and so many of our friends and second families' safety is unknown.
*Post written by Hannah Rea, student of Paul and Leisa, who are the directors of the non-profit, Children's Hope. Leisa will withdraw these funds for medical, food, and water supplies, which will be directly delivered by Paul and Leisa themselves to Haiti in the next few weeks.*
