Get Carla to UnSchool Fellowship!

Hi! I’m Carla and I’ve been accepted to join a group of 15 people from around the world to participate in the UnSchool of Disruptive Design Fellowship Program to be held in Berlin this October. This is an incredible opportunity that will allow me to learn the disruptive design methodology, expand my knowledge of sustainability, gain experience in systems thinking and connect with others that share my passion for design as catalyst for positive change.
I graduated from Pratt Institute in 2015 with a Bachelors of Industrial Design and a minor in Sustainability Studies. I decided to move back home to Puerto Rico where I wanted to utilize my design skills to generate social and environmental change. Ever since, I’ve made it my mission to learn about and get involved with different organizations working on socially driven projects including Efecto Sombrilla, La Maraña, Casa Taft, Mentes Puertorriqueñas en Acción and Slow Food Youth Network Puerto Rico. Through Slow Food I’ve been given the opportunity to attend their Terra Madre Salone del Gusto fair in Turin, Italy this September as a delegate of Puerto Rico. The fair and the fellowship have coincided perfectly, allowing me to participate in two amazing events in one single trip.
Terra Madre will run the 22-26 of September and the UnSchool Fellowship will run the 8-14 of October, making my trip a month long. Airfare, and expenses during the week of Terra Madre are covered by Slow Food and the UnSchool granted me a 30% scholarship off program fees. Unfortunately, the scholarship doesn’t cover all the program costs nor travel and living expenses for the two weeks leading to and the week during the fellowship. I’ve already paid some fees and I’m working hard to save money for the trip, but I still need your help.
The funds raised will go towards:
- program fees
- transportation
- accommodation
- food
- health and travel insurance
- miscellaneous travel related expenses
This is a unique opportunity that will impact my future as a designer in Puerto Rico; I’ll be eternally grateful to those that help make it possible.
THANK YOU!
