We are a rad trio of dudes from around the world who have the shared dream of representing Atlantic Canada in this year's StartupBus competition. We need YOUR help to participate in this unique opportunity that takes place between the 14th and 19th of May. We will need to reach our funding goal before we leave to Tampa, so please share this campaign with your friends, family and coworkers! It would mean the world to us, and we will personally thank each and every one of you for your contribution. Bringing StartupBus to Atlantic Canada is very important to us, we cannot wait to give our entrepreneur community the opportunity to grow!

StartupBus is "the closest thing the entrepreneurial world has to blood sport. " We are duking it out in a competition where buses depart from different North American cities, and embark on a 72-hour quest to Boulder, Colorado.  We will be teaming up with the brightest minds on the continent to build and launch brilliant businesses, and using our new-found skills to increase Atlantic Canada's presence in the entrepreneur world.

The competition, which is in it's 7th year and has run on four continents across the world, has yet to see Atlantic Canada represented. Our goal is to bring a success story back to the region, by participating as a small delegation on the bus departing Tampa, Florida. With our story, we want to inspire more entrepreneurs from the region to participate next year, so we can send a bus from Halifax full of Maritime talent. For more information about the competition, see the StartupBus website.

Who are we?
Yoon S. Park

Yoon Park is a Korean-Canadian graduating management student majoring in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, who is active in the entrepreneurship commmunity as Vice-President of the Dalhousie Entrepreneurial Society, and has been working to bring StartupBus to Halifax since he first heard of it.

"As a soon-to-be Management graduate at Dalhousie University who’s been learning innovative ways to build & grow new businesses, I opened up to StartupBus like a thirsty guy in front of an oasis. Thanks to our friends dedicated for this project, a solid team was been formed, and we are driven to make this first year of Halifax participation a big success with Made in Bus startups and/or many learning moments. We’ve got commitment, leadership and some knowledge. Now, what we need is some funding to beautifully make it happen." -Yoon Park

Isaac S. Greenberg

Isaac Greenberg is a second-year student pursuing a double major in Sustainability and Economics. Alongside his studies, he is currently working with the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre to combat food insecurity in low-income neighbourhoods. He is also a local entrepreneur with a Tempeh production business about to launch.

"Being from a small province, I love traveling outside of the bounds of what is familiar. This is the same approach I have to my projects, including a business I have started recently. I am excited to learn about the intersection of food and tech on the Tampa bus, mainly because a partner and I have started a tempeh company in Halifax. I will learn intimate details of the tech industry and how it can apply be to my business. By having the experience of developing close relationships with experienced individuals, I will receive mentorship in how I conduct myself and develop as an entrepreneur. I am very open to learning extensively from everyone else on the bus, as well as building life-long relationships with incredible people from around the world! I am generally excited to travel, build important skills, and meet driven, passionate people." -Isaac Greenberg

Tobias E. Ødegård

Tobias Ødegård is a second year Management student majoring in Leadership and Organization at Dalhousie University. Traveling from Norway, Tobias thrives on meeting new people and immersing himself in new situations. He has proven his dynamic personality by competing at the national level in water polo, having lived in Norway, Canada and the United States and additionally aiding in the creation of an East Coast Tempeh production business. His passions lie within the entrepreneurial and managerial realm, which combined with his passion for traveling makes him an excellent fit for the StartupBus adventure.

"This would be a unique opportunity for me to develop my teambuilding and presenting skills, while working under pressure with a diverse group of people who share my ambitiousness and passion for entrepreneurship. I want to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to travel the states, while collaborating with people I have just met, to conceive, build and launch a startup in 72 hours. As crazy as that sounds, am excited to be a part of this adventure and gain valuable experience while combining my two biggest passions; traveling and entrepreneurship" -Tobias Ødegård
