Youth Academy Library Project

I'm Joe Huden, Board Chair of the Washington Youth Academy Foundation.  The Academy provides high-school drop-outs a second chance.  They learn how to succeed and the statistics tell the story.

This project is to fund a library at the academy.  Reading is the fundamental building block for student success.  Many drop-outs have a fifth or sixth grade reading level.  We can change that.

Evidence points to reading as the fundamental stumbling block for student achievement.  A library is a fundamental need to improve student success.  We have a dedicated space for a library but we need to build the physical library, buy books and purchase a digital library with e-readers.

All you have to do is listen to the stories of students who were failing to know how much this means.  I've been involved as a volunteer board member for six years and I know this is a tremedous opportunity to change lives.

I'm seeking the funds to start the libary project in June 2016, please help.
