Honey Bee Haven

I have been beekeeping for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was a beekeeper, and some of my fondest memories are of going out to the beeyards with him during summer tending to his bees. I love bees. Learning how they work and figuring out how to protect them from the various diseases, pests, and viruses they come across. Keeping and protecting them is my life passion. To me there is nothing greater than opening up a hive and seeing those girls going about their work, buzzing away the day, zipping from flower to flower, bringing in nectar for their colony, it all just fascinates me.
The reason I need your help is to setup a Beekeeping/Bee Research Facility which I will call Honey Bee Haven. A place that is welcoming to anyone who may be interested in bees or beekeeping. I would like to teach others what I have learned throughout my life as a beekeeper who has managed in upwards of 3000 hives and has seen just about everything that can happen to a colony today. It would also be a place for research into the tremendous amounts of ailments that our precious honey bee faces daily. Just read this from the NY Times Or this one from Wired . It's devastating to not only the beekeeper and his bees, but also farmers crops all the way down to your small gardens in the backyard. It hurts everyone and I would like to throw my experience and expertise toward finding solutions that very well could save the worlds most prolific pollinator.
One of the goals of this project is to setup anyone interested in beekeeping and is genuinely looking to become a hobbyist or even a commercial beekeeper with two free hives to get started. Complete with beesuit/veil, smoker and fuel, hive tool, uncapping knife, and the book ABC XYZs of beekeeping. The way I see it is the more bees we can get out there and the more knowledge people can have of the honey bee the better.
Another goal is to share our research with everyone and make it accessible to all. No boundaries, no secret formulas that need to be kept under wraps and sold through a catalog. No patents that prevent you from making or building anything that could help your bees thrive. All out in the open and accessible to everyone.
I truly believe in doing whatever it takes to save our bee populations. They are amazing little workers, and they deserve our attention and care. In a very direct way, they help put food on your table.
