George's Journey with Cancer....
George's battle with cancer began in January 2014 when he was only 15 years old . The news was devastating and heartbreaking . He was diagnosed with Testicular Mixed Germ Cell Cancer, he has been in treatment for 2 1/2 years. It has been a very difficult journey with cancer for a very athletic and vibrant boy full of life. His strength and courage have kept him fighting and overcoming all obstacles. He is an inspiration and a true fighter. This horrible disease has knocked him down over and over, but he has always picked himself up , he never gives up, stays focused and positive with incredible willpower, strength and a great sense of humor. For George laughter is the best medicine.
When George first got diagnosed he was in stage 4. The doctors discovered a large tumor on his testicle , which was removed though surgery, the cancer had spread to his lungs and lymph nodes on the neck, he immediately began 4 cycles of chymotherapy which removed the tumors from his lungs and neck, shortly after a small surgery was performed to remove a necrotic tumor. For a few months George was in remission, he was going to the hospital for follow-up appointments weekly, everything was going well, he began to have headaches in January 2015. During a regular visist to the hospital the doctor requested to have an emergency ct scan, they discovered a tumor in his brain, the next morning he was on the operating table having brain surgery. The tumor was removed and continued with more treatments of chemotherapy. About a month after surgery 4 other brain tumors developed which had to be removed very quickly. In between the brain surgeries he developed Staph infections which had to be treated with surgery and antibiotics for many weeks to follow. After this battle he had more chemotherapy and radiation treatments, two stem cell transplants which kept him in isolation for 2 months in October and November 2015. After ongoing MRI's, CT-Scans, Pet Scans, blood tests... He began to complain of back pain and vision problems, an MRI was done and they discovered whatever tumor cells were in the back of the brain moved down to lower spinal area. The tumors are floating around the cerebrospinal fluid, in two weeks it has spread to other part of the spine. He is preasently doing full cranial spinal radiation treatments. All this conventional medicine has had many side effects, George has lost his hearing and now has to wear hearing aids, his left arm has been affected neurologically, has kidney issues, vision problems and difficult with mobility.
After discussion with his oncology team, we were told that radiation treatments will shrink the tumors but not get rid of them. George was not given much hope of any other treatments or solution, as he was denied immunotherapy treatment through clinical studies and compassionate care even though he was tested positive.
We are not ready to give up and will not give up the fight, despite the doctors beliefs that he will not be cured. George has a fighting spirit and has hopes and dreams for the future.
Ater many weeks of research, we have discovered other alternative treatments outside of Canada, that have been proven to be in many agressive cancers very succesfull.
We are urging all our family and friends to support and help us raise money for George in order to get alternative treatments at the Immunity Therapy Center in Tijuana Mexico (Baja California). George will require much assesment and many weeks of various treatments and therapies as an in patient. The treatments are costly, he will require accomodations, food, travel expenses and frequent testing.
We need to raise the funds as urgently as possible in order for George to get the treatments done immediately. Please help us reach this goal.
George and the Yambouranis Family would to like to say a "BIG THANK YOU" to all our friends and family who have supported George and our family through this journey we are very grateful and appreciate all your love, without your support we could not have gotten through this difficult time.
