A TPT Dudley Riggs Documentary

The iconic comedic and satirical imprint that the man named Dudley Riggs has provided the State of Minnesota and the nation is undeniable.

Since 1959, Dudley Riggs molded and created a new form of comedy and political and cultural free expression that was two years before Second City in Chicago and nearly two decades before the type of theater he created was shown to the nation on the debut of SNL.   

The name of Dudley Riggs and his contribution to the State of Minnesota, while not directly political, is in the realm of Wellstone and Humphrey, far as being recognized as a Minnesota treasure.  Despite his iconic status, Dudley Riggs has never been honored with a definitive documentary film about his incredible life and contribution.   That is going to change, hopefully with your help.

"There is a Dudley" will be a new documentary film being featured on the TPT's MINNESOTA EXPERIENCE Monday night series in the Spring or early Summer of 2019.   The filming of the  interview with Dudley will begin in October of 2018.  

This documentary is being produced by TPT in partnership with former Brave New Workshop Musical Director of over 25 years, Peter Guertin, along with the Twin Cities-based 501c3 charity, The 30-Days Foundation, www.The30-DaysFoundation.org founded by Twin Cities singer-songwriter, producer and lifelong friend of Peter, Mick Sterling.  

We are hoping to raise $10,000 through our Go Fund Me.  $75,000 is  needed to pay TPT to handle all aspects of production for "There is a Dudley"   $5,000 has already been committed at this point to begin the main interview with Dudley Riggs himself in mid-October of 2018.  

Our intent is $60,000 in individual and corporate sponsorship.   However, if we gratefully surpass our $10,000 goal through Go Fund Me, we will continue to raise funds until we hit $75,000.  We do not need more than that and we will stop the campaign after that amount.   

Tens of thousands of people have enjoyed the vision of Dudley Riggs for over 5 decades.  We are hoping there are a few of who have enjoyed may feel a desire to give back a bit to give this innovator a fitting tribute of his remarkable life for everyone to enjoy on Public Television.

The film is not being sold on DVD, or any other form. It is owned by TPT and will be aired multiple times both regionally and nationally depending upon the success of the film.  We are thrilled to make this happen.

Our goal is to honor this iconic and beautifully brilliant man who gave, for decades, everyone an opportunity in the State of Minnesota, a vibrant and intelligent platform of satire and free speech nightly. Since 1960, tens of thousands of been afforded that unique opportunity.  

Honoring this man is long overdue.   TPT and The 30-Days Foundation and Peter Guertin will produce the definitive documentary about the fascinating life of the one and only Dudley Riggs.   We are honored to produce it and to honor the brilliant Dudley Riggs.
