Valentine's Day for the homeless

Donation protected
I formed Homeless at Heart to help homeless men, women and children enjoy Valentines Day. We give them handwritten Valentine cards and boxes filled with goodies and other things that will make them happy. I started this organization in 2015 when I was 11  because I wanted to see homeless people enjoy Valentine’s Day. Our goal was to collect and distribute 2000 boxes around Atlanta on Valentine’s weekend 2016.

The majority of the completed boxes we distribute are made by families and student volunteers.  However, we have also collected empty shoeboxes during the year (West Stride shoe store customers in Atlanta, alone, have donated almost 600 empty shoe boxes) and we need cash donations to purchase materials for these boxes.

We actually have more demand from shelters than we can meet without cash donations. Homeless shelters love this program because it shows their clients love on Valentine's Day and also has things in the box like water and socks that help them out at this time of the year.

We purhcase most of the things that go into empty boxes from Costco at Cumberland Mall who has been a big supporter of ours with donations to our cause. We budget $5 for each box. We have excess demand of more than 700 boxes and we are trying to raise $3500 to fund those empty boxes and get them in the hands of the homeless over Valentine's weekend.

We are going to exceed our goal of 2000 boxes but we may not be able to meet all of the demand from shelters. Your contributions will really help us meet this need.
