Gary Maxwell needs your support!!! I started this GoFundMe page to help pay for his truck driver training at the Smith and Solomon driving school in Bellmawr NJ with the expectation that Gary will pay it back.
A few months ago, Gary (my father-in-law-to-be) decided he was ready to start a new career as a truck driver. Go Gary! He passed his written exam and received his New Jersey CDL permit. He then signed up with a well known truck driving school in Utah that offered free tuition for new drivers willing to work for them. He trained, he passed their road test, and he drove about 180 hours over the course of 2 months. And the best part... it was clear that he was enjoying it. They sent him back to NJ to get a hard copy of his new CDL license, but that's when things took an unexpected turn.
A few months ago NJ passed a law that prevents Gary from getting his training/testing in another state. He was unable to get a hard copy of his license, and needs to enroll in a school and then take the test again here.
He currently needs $3250 to enroll in a school that would guaruntee his CDL-A license in NJ and offers job placement. Truck drivers are in very high demand and many jobs offer tuition reimburesment to get new drivers. He is also likely to make about $75,000 a year doing extended driving (which he prefers). Once he gets back on the road, he would be able to payback the money for these donations in less than 6 months.
Donations of any amount are wildly appreciated. After extensive research, this is really the best way for Gary to achieve his goal of getting his CDL license and starting an amazing new career. Thank you!
