Help Us Through Finding A Home
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Caymi, I just turned 18 years old and my mom just turned 62 years old. The past few years have been a bit rough for us....my dad passed away almost 2 years ago(it will be 2 years in April) and that completely tore both me and my mom up. After we had finally healed, my mom got into an accident. This past September, my mom was taking the garbage out and tripped over a crack in our driveway and fell face first into our brick garage, resulting in her cracking her head open. Thankfully I was by the window and ran out to help her, her condition then was bad just by seeing it, I could see her skull and a crack in it, her nose was completely broken, and she was going into a seizure. After spending a few weeks in the NICU, she was released home, I took off school for a few days so I could take care of her which was hard since it's just me taking care of my mom, I'm still young and it was awful watching my mom have seizures and in pain and not being able to talk or walk correctly, let alone taking off school and having to catch up on a lot of work. About a month later, the landlord showed up at our door and basically said my mom was too much of a liability and we had to leave immediately because I guess the company was scared we would sue the property. 10 minutes later, the police and movers showed up and started throwing our things into boxes and forced us out. We lost a lot of our stuff, clothes, pictures, furniture, and a lot of stuff of my dads that were the only things I had to remember him by. As traumatizing as that was, that wasn't the worst part. The worst part has been living in a hotel for 4 months, which has been very costly. My mom has gone weeks without her medication because we can't afford to get it, she's been having seizures and is in so much pain. Most days we go without food so we are able to feed our 2 dogs and our cat, they've always come first so we try to make sure they have food. Lately it's become even harder our van broke down and it costs too much than we can afford to fix it, so we have been using Lyft to get around to the store, doctors appointments and school. We are barely making it and are running out of money faster than we can get it, I am trying to find jobs since my mom can't work since she is disabled, but juggling a job and school is harder than I thought. I hate to ask for money, but I don't know what else to do, I'm just 18 but I feel like the whole weight of the world is on my shoulders with taking care of my mom, finding money to pay for a hotel and food, and taking care of our pets. Even the smallest donation would mean the world to both me and my mom. Thank you.
