South Street Steve

Many of you know Steve, also known as South Street Steve. He is a homeless man who has been around Lafayette for 30 years. Steve lives behind on the west side in a makeshift lean to. I have gotten to know him over the last year and have watched his health rapidly decline. After spending several weeks trying to get him to the hospital he finally agreed. He has been in the hospital over a week at this point. Several local organizations have been in contact with him. Steve has finally agreed to accept some help. It is gonna be a long process to get him all the care he needs. We have an apartment lined up for him but he needs all household goods and groceries to get him through until we can get social security and other programs started up and going. Myself and several others are doing what we can but we could use some help! We want to set him up for success so that he is less tempted to return to the life he has known on the streets for many years. If you can donate it would be greatly appreciated! Also I am gathering donations of household goods. I will update as I can. Due to his privacy I am limited on what medical updates I can provide. I am in contact with the Doctors, Nurses, Social worker and case manager for Steve. I miss seeing Steve at work everyday but he is receiving much needed medical attention. Steve was homeless but he never begged from people! He appreciated when someone would buy him a drink or sandwich from my store. Also I have never seen anyone so excited over my chicken and noodles! Please help as you can!
