JORDANS SMILE!!
This is all about Jordan. Jordan is my son! A 6 year old boy with the biggest heart! Jordan loves sports but basketball is his favorite. Jordan is one cool dude, he is an outdoors men. He love hunting, fishing, camping, dirt bike & 4 wheeler's!! He also loves to ride motorcycles, that's one of his favorites too!! Jordan has a hard life for a kid. Jordan was born with Facial Palsy, which mean he has no muscle movement on one side of his face. Jordan says he just wants to smile like everybody else. We are currently seeing a craniofacial specialist @ VCU!! There is a procedure that could give him the smile he wants. A smile like his brothers & sister. Unfortunately they do not perform the surgeries he would need!! They have referred us out of state to CHOP (Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia). But again unfortunately Medicaid does not cover out of state unless authorized which I could fight forever!!
I can not give up I have to get this smile my son wants and needs for his future! So I called UVA in Charlottesville!! Again they didn't have a surgeon for this procedure either. As I am getting discouraged, Dr. BLACK craniofacial specialist from uva called me himself to tell me he has a surgeon coming from the Mayo Clinic this summer that specifically removes muscles from one part of the body to another and he would would be learning with him!! He had his receptionist schedule me for an appointment September 5th which is months away but is my only hope!!!
Facial Palsy also causes Jordan eyes to not close completely which causes him dry eye and irritation. This surgery is extremely important to me. To see my son smile for the first time would be breath taking!! For him to close his eye while sleeping. To know he wouldn't be bullied for not looking the same as others! To give him the confidence about him self that he wouldn't have if this surgery isn't done!!! Jordan has seen so many specialist, and he always says mama when am I getting my face fixed!! Of course I reassure him, his face is fine, but he knows it isn't. The kids dont bully him yet because they are only 5-6. They do ask him why is his face like that? Jordan is just so happy, the he smiles and responds because I was born like this!!
I know that once this journey starts we will have a long road ahead of us and maybe multiple surgeries but years from now Jordan will appreciate everything we went through!! We will have a benefit soon, Go Fund Me and hopefully we can raise money to help Jordan have this surgery. We definitely need all the support we can get because as parents seeing your child go through so much, the surgeries, the pain, and the recovery is so hard.
Right now our main goal is to raise enough money to travel back & forth to Charlottesville and to help us along the way. Jordan's dad will miss work sometimes for days and even weeks, bill will stack up, we will need food & shelter, comforting Jordan as well as caring for our 4 other children during this time!
After his surgeries are over we want to plan a surprise trip to Disney World for our Family not just Jordan because even though Jordan Is going through so much so are his brothers and sister!! This is a family experience we won't forget!! In our family No One is Left BEHIND!!
So everyone look out for updates bc I will be sharing Jordan's Journeys as I receive information!! Love You Guys!!!! ALSO FOLLOW JORDAN'S JOURNEY ON FB @ JORDAN'S SMILE!!
