Kat's Seasons Of Love

In October, my mother started experiencing a severe increase in pain. My brother and I have been struggling for months trying to figure out why our mother was in so much pain and having major mood swings. She saw the doctor several times for this problem and they weren't moving forward with any diagnosis. Thankfully, one of her friends finally took her to see an Oncologist in Baton Rouge last Tuesday and they ordered an MRI. The oncologist made her an appointment to see a surgical specialist at their sister hospital in New Orleans on Wednesday morning. From there, she was immediately admitted due to the results of the MRI. They found a tumor on her spine that was about to paralyze her and it had to be removed immediately on Thursday. There was no bone between disks in two spots of her spine that they had to reconstruct and align. They also found masses in her kidneys, bones, lymph nodes, and possibly lungs. The tissue was removed from the spine and sent to pathology to determine exactly what type of cancer it is and how they can treat it. Because of the major spinal surgery, she won't be able to receive any further treatment until the surgery has healed (about 6 weeks). We have an amazing team of doctors at Oschner in New Orleans, but we'd like to go a step further and also get a team of holistic specialists. Insurance is covering most of the medical bills, but there are other things that I'd like to provide for my mom such as plane tickets to fly a specialist in and for certain loved ones to be able to come see her and give her some positive energy. My mother worked extremely hard to make sure that my dreams were fulfilled and now it's her turn! Please help me give my mom the best care she can possibly get and help me surround her with positive people that love her!! I appreciate each and everyone of you that is willing to help!
