Save Parramattas Heritage Precinct
Donation protected
The residents of Parramatta are battling to save one of Australia's most precious and significant heritage precincts.
The NSW Government has lodged a development application to sell 26 hectares of public land in order to build thousands of high density residential units. This development puts at risk the Parramatta Female Factory, which is the oldest intact convict institution, having been built in 1818.
Local residents are campaigning hard to stop this needless destruction and sell-off. They have pooled their own funds to hire architects and held symposiums to show a better vision for this site, which has great potential as a bustling arts and cultural precinct.
Unfortunately these efforts have fallen on the deaf ears of the NSW Government. Now we are forced to battle the development application , but we need your help to fund this.
We need a war chest to stop a precious historical precinct from becoming another high-rise apartment complex.
We ask you to help us save Australia's heritage because once it's gone, it's gone forever.
Anything you can spare will assist the local residents in stopping this vandalism so future generations can enjoy Australia's public assets.
