Main St Mural by Termes Restoration
Donation protected
In 1978 Internationally recognised South Dakota artist Dick Termes (termespheres.com) worked with the Vermillion, SD community to paint the "Missouri Weave" mural that depicts the history and contemporary activities of the area. Now the mural desperately needs repair and restoration. The non profit Vermillion Area Arts Council and the SD Arts Council are sponsoring Mr. Termes to return for five days September 21 -25, 2015 to work again with the community to repair and brighten the mural which has faded drastically and sustained structural deterioration. The project budget is $15,000 and to date we have raised a little over half in local contributions.
The "Missouri Weave" mural is one of approximately fifteen painted by Termes in the early 80's and only 3 or four remain. This mural is an important part of South Dakota history and a focal point of Vermillion, South Dakota's historic Main Street and as such must be saved. Photo was taken in 1978 during original painting of "Missouri Weave"
Please help us save the mural and come and paint with us September 21 -25, 2015
Present day mural condition 2015
Friends have requested we place this Go Fund Me so here goes.
Thank You
