Kempf Family

Christian (Crist) and Mattie Kempf are a young, hardworking Amish couple that were blessed to have 6 children. Melvin, Ben, Christine, Clara, Wayne and Harley. Crist worked at Doorworks, Inc during that day and did his farm work at night. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mattie kept house and raised the children, cooking and canning, gardening, etc. They had hopes and dreams to have a farm and a home for their children to grow. Crist was a talented wood worker and the closest example to Jesus, both in faith and action than anyone I know. He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to work until the job was done. He never complained and worked hard for the sake of his family. He loved fishing and hunting.
On Friday, November 20th, 2015 Crist and Melvin were at their neighbors across the road doing corn. Crist wanted to get the corn off so he could enjoy opening deer season on Saturday. Crist's family was coming for the weekend. Crist and Melvin were traveling in a horse drawn cart with a wagon full of corn headed to their house when they were hit by a drunk driver in a pick up truck from behind. Crist and Melvin both suffered severe brain injuries. They were both flown from scene to St. Joseph's Hospital where Crist later died from his injuries. Melvin is still in critical condition.
Mattie is left without a husband, her children are left without a father, his family left without a brother and son and we are left without a friend.
Knowing that Melvin's outcome is in God's hands, we wanted to help Mattie with medical bills and living expenses since Crist brought the income to their home.
