Joe Bullock's Farewell Rainbow Cake
Donation protected
Hi I'm Simon...
I'm just a regular West Aussie guy who's been in a loving same-sex relationship for nearly 6 years.
Hey did you know that West Australian Senator Joe Bullock announced yesterday that he is quitting politics over his party's position on same-sex marriage?
'Senator Joe Bullock quits citing Labor's support for homosexual marriage' - The Sydney Morning Herald
'Labor senator Joe Bullock quits politics over gay marriage.' - SBS
'Joe Bullock quits Senate over Labor's compulsory support of marriage equality' - The Guardian
Look, everyone is entitled to their own opinion OK, but at the end of the day, every honest, hard-working Aussie like Joe deserves a little office attention and a slice of cake on their last day at work.
So I'm here on gofundme to pass the envelope around to see if anyone wants to chuck in a couple of bucks for a GIANT RAINBOW FAREWELL CAKE for Joe's last day.
The money raised from this gofundme effort will be used to send Joe and his staff a GIANT RAINBOW FAREWELL CAKE that will be made and delivered by a local, Perth-based decorative baker/cakemaker (TBC) on his last day (date TBC).
The message on the icing on the cake will simply say:
'Farewell Joe! Lots of love from your friends at #MarriageEquality xox'
Any leftover funds from this gofundme effort will be donated to a registered LGBT youth crisis centre or a not-for-profit organisation trained to be able to give support and information to young people allowing them to be informed, happy and healthy about their sexuality, sex and gender.
Recognition of same-sex marriage by our government is extremely important to me. Recognition of same-sex marriage by our government will help to send a clear message to young LGBT people (in particular those in crisis) that being in a same-sex relationship is not wrong. Recognition of same-sex marriage by our government will send a clear message to bullies that being in a same-sex relationship is not wrong.
We must put an end to LGBT youth suicide.
If the recognition of same-sex marriage in Australia helps save JUST ONE young person from committing suicide...as a nation, we'll have made an immeasurable difference.
So...I'm passing round the envelope...do you want to chuck in a couple of bucks for Joe's farewell cake?
Cheers
Simon, Perth, Western Australia
