My baby boy went to football conditioning on Tuesday he really didn't want to go because he complained of the heat but at the same time he really wanted to make the Freshman team so he made the choice to go to practice. At the end of practice I got a call that my son had "fell over" while taking a knee after practice but an ambulance wasn't called. He was taken home by a family friend and I rushed home from Tracy. By time I got to him he was in a horrible Condition, he couldn't speak, see, had no control of his muscles and couldn't stop vomiting. I immediately called 911, we sat in a hallway at St. Josephs for 4 hours with his heart rate at 150. He didn't remember anything and his behavior was child like. Finally after being seen by a Doctor he was determined that be needed a higher level of care and was Air lifted and admitted to UC Davis ICU. That is where a team of doctors determined that my son suffered from a SEVERE HEAT STROKE which lead to acute kidney damage, heart damage, muscle break down and liver damage. His entire body was shutting down and I almost lost him. Recovery has been slow his organs are still not functioning at normal levels and doctors are trying to rule out any swelling of his brain. He is doing better but still has a long way to go. There is large out of pocket expense for the helicopter ride. It is challenging as a single mother to cover the out of pocket cost especially since I had to take time off of work to care for my son. All donations will be greatly appreciated, Thank you and God bless!
