As many of you know, Josh tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence. For those of you that know him, you know he had an old soul. His smile, his laugh, and his spirit were infectious.
My story is that I am his former sister in law, he and I have known each other for nearly 10 years. I have remained close with Josh, my ex husband, and in laws; especially since Josh’s brother and I have a son together. I reside in Louisville, about fifteen minutes from Josh’s parents. When Josh passed I knew the funeral expenses where going to be a major cause for concern. Having been in a position to not be able to provide a family member with a desired funeral and burial caused major psychological distress, therefore I wanted to be able to raise money from them.
Josh’s life was cut incredibly short. He was and always will be family. I’ve spoken with Keith Sr and Sabrina, as well as Keith Jr and now that the funeral and burial costs have been covered, they are moving towards ensuring other unexpected expenses related to probate can be taken care of (I.e.; probate related expenses, attorney costs, cleaning of his apartment, ensuring the ability to store his belongings so they don’t have to get rid of them) and finally costs associated with working towards organization and efforts of petitioning and working to change present EPO laws.
Funds have pre ious covered the cost of the casket and burial, including his plot, with funeral specific costs covered by TRH. Funds have also allowed for purchasing of his burial clothing and meals to the family on the day of the funeral (tomorrow).
All funds less the GoFundMe fees are being given directly to the parents of Josh Rice. The money is hand delivered with transparency and access to view donation amounts given to the family. The money is withdrawn and given to them the day of deposit into a personal account.
They are thankful for all donations that have been received and are thankful for any further donations that may come.
