Hello I am Paul Steinhauer and it breaks my heart to tell you that my baby brother of Michael Steinhauer age 43, has been diagnoised with Stage 3 Esophageal and Stomach Cancer.
Michael works as a union electrician in Indianapolis for IBEW Local 481. As a union electrician you only get paid if you work. His company does not offer any short or long term disability insurance coverage. There is no paid time-off or paid vacation.
His prognosis requires that he undergo massive chemo and radiation therapy which most likely will make him weak, tired and ill - requiring time off and missed work. After completion of the chemo to reduce and shrink the tumors, there will be surgery followed-up with radiation requiring more time off work for recovery.
My goal is to help raise money to assist Michael and his family during the time that he is unable to work to aid with his loss- of- income, medical and daily living expenses. He starts his treatments this week. While undergoing treatments and surgery I do not want Michael and his family worrying about the financial strains that this will cause them. I want Michael and his family completed devoted to his care and treatment to help him overcome this very serious diagnosis. Not only am I asking for the above, but for your thoughts and prayers for Michael and his family during his fight.
