Caitlin's Medical Bills

Donation protected

Early in November 2015 my fiancé Caitlin was involved in a car accident that caused her to develop a subdural hematoma (brain bleed) that went undiscovered for about three weeks.

On Thanksgiving day on our way to our family dinner, Caitlin suddenly began acting strangely while riding in the car and complained of a sudden severe headache. So severe, that we stopped on the side of the highway and called 911. She was then rushed to Novato Community Hospital.

Once she arrived at the hospital she was given an immediate CT scan which revealed that her brain was suddenly actively bleeding severely. She was intubated and transferred directly to the operating room at Marin General Hospital for a life saving surgery. After four hours in surgery Caitlin was in a coma and given very little hope of survival and neurological recovery.

But, Caitlin seemed to ever so slightly begin to respond with meaningful finger squeezes on demand the next day. Then, after only a few days, Caitlin surprised everyone with a lot of meaningful movement and response when the sedation drips were dialed back a few. However, she had complete paralysis on her entire left side, and the inability to swallow safely. As the days went by, Caitlin's ability to move her left side began to improve, first with her fingers, which over time became her hand and then her arm.

Then finally on January 6, 2016 after almost eight weeks in the hospital ICU, Caitlin was able to leave the hospital and go to a step down facility before going home!

The beautiful young woman that the doctors thought was going to die became a holiday miracle and walked out of that hospital on her own.

Thank you to all who prayed for Caitlin and held her in your thoughts with positivity! Caitlin is so happy to be home finally. However, there are some big adjustments to make now and we are reaching out for your support.
The road ahead is still long, Caitlin will not be able to work for six months or more. There are medical bills to be paid and her daily living expenses are piling up.
We would be extremely grateful for any financial help or any other assistance you feel you can provide. Large or small, all donations will help Caitlin get through this very difficult time. Thank you for everything, your love, support and prayers have been amazing.
