Mane Urgently Needs Surgery
Donation protected
When you look at this “ostentatious” little girl, a nice smile comes to your face. She is so cute and nice, has so much positive energy in her that you will never guess how much she suffered and continues to suffer. Little Mane is completely deaf. She is almost 3 years old and never heard her Mom’s voice, enjoying her Mom’s lullabies when she was put to bed. She cannot communicate with other children when she plays in the park with them. She is not dancing when there is nice music. She is not understood and accepted in society.
My Armenian friend and I decided to support Mane's family to afford an Auditory Brainstem Implantation (ABI) which would enable Mane to enter the world of hearing.
When the young parents of little cute Mane got the horrible diagnosis of Mane being deaf they were shocked, but this was not the whole story with all the bad news. Mane’s parents thought that their “bundle of joy” can get an inner ear implantation and get access to hearing. This kind of surgery could be done in Armenia without any problem. But after a detailed examination another shock came to this family. The diagnosis disclosed anomaly of both inner ears, which meant the young parents should forget about an inner ear implantation. After fighting more than a year the parents were desperate and almost stopped fighting, thinking there was no way out. But the father always had a feeling that he had not done everything yet and started to look for more help. He came to us and asked for help. My Armenian friend and I agreed to help and by using all our networks we sent Mane’s medical documents to specialists living abroad, in Germany, Austria and Turkey. From all three countries the response was the same: There is a solution called ABI, which would help deaf children like Mane to get access to the world of hearing. This is a very rare surgery as children with this kind of diagnosis are also rare in the world. There are only a few surgeons in the world who perform such a surgery.
Unfortunately only the ABI treatment costs around 33,000 EUR and this amount is astronomically high for the family who is hardly making both ends meet.
Because Mane's family is living in hard social conditions. Mane lives with her parents in Armenia, in a small town called Hrazdan. Only her Dad works and tries his best to maintain the family. Mane's Mom cares about her all day long, because Mane does not go to a kinder garden as in their town there is no kinder garden where she would be accepted.
Now they need funds, about 33,000 EUR to cover travel and all other expenses for Mane to get her ABI. Especially my Armenian friend loves this family very much and we both want to help them. We hope that you will not stay indifferent and will help Mane as well to hear. Each cent donated to Mane can change her world and take her to the world of sounds. She will be prevented from being separated from her peers and will be able to go to a mainstream school, giving her the opportunity to be fully integrated into society.
All children at this age like talking so much. Let's help Mane to become one of them and be able «to bother» her Mom and Dad with 5,000 questions per day. This is now the most important dream the family has.
Thank you very much for your support,
Lilit & Klaus
