Help FC Kendall get To Nashville!

FC Kendall is a soccer club established in 2008, with a mission to be a true representative of Kendall for adult amateur soccer. The club’s recognition over time has allowed it to start recruiting the most talented players across the Kendall area and other parts of Miami. After several championships and trophies within the local league, we have grown to compete in multiple leagues and tournaments sanctioned by the US Soccer Federation and FIFA, such as the American Premier Soccer League (APSL). Our mission is to provide a platform for our local players to compete at a competitive level whether it’s to help our youth college players to continue training in their offseason or for our players who have graduated from college to continue playing at a high level.

Apart from our local league, we are currently in the 3rd qualifying round of the U.S. Open Cup, a knock-out cup competition in American soccer. It is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States. Similar to your domestic cups in countries such as England and Spain where they have the FA Cup & Copa Del Rey, where it’s possible for an amateur club amongst the lower ranks to compete with the likes of Real Madrid or Chelsea. Pretty much a dream come true. In the US Open Cup, a team such as FC Kendall has the possibility if they advance far enough to compete amongst PDL, USL, NASL, and MLS teams.

After defeating local rivals, Leu Blacs 11-0 in the first qualifying round, we were drawn to travel all the way up to Orlando, FL to play against Orlando Storm. A talented team with several D-1 college soccer players from UCF and Stetson, and even featured the likes of the talented and former U.S. men’s national team member, Eddie Johnson. FC Kendall drove up Sunday morning to Auburndale, FL to take on Orlando Storm at the Lake Myrtle soccer stadium. In a thrilling and entertaining matchup, we were able to come out on top with a 4-0 victory, resulting in moving into the next round.

With the U.S. Open Cup draw the following morning, the team drove back that Sunday night after the game with hopes to avoid another away game, specifically one outside of the state. Out of our control, we were once again chosen to play our 3rd consecutive away game all the way up in Nashville, TN against Nashville United. We are now only one game away from making it to the prestigious Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup but with all the costs involved in making the trip up, we will most definitely need help. Our club and coaching staff does its best job to budget accordingly to schedule field rentals for the APSL (American Premier Soccer League) we play in as well as purchasing uniforms for the players but this unfortunate trip to Tennessee was much unexpected. We love the game of soccer, we love to compete, and we love to show out for our city. It’d be an honor to not only represent Miami but Kendall in the national tournament and we are in need of some help.

Our club is ran by volunteers, consisting of our coaches and several board members (ex-players) who have chosen to partake in contributing to our annual budget. Our budget consists of several costs such as renting fields and referee fees for our weekly games. We create margin for any upcoming local tournaments, usually those with cash prizes to help build our budget and recycle the money back into the club. This is a not-for-profit club and is ran by members with full-time jobs and families, whom make time for operating and organizing the club to continue week in and week out. We love this game, and most importantly we love this team. We believe in what they’re able to accomplish and it’s why we invest so much time in doing so.
Our club has been drawn once again to travel to Nashville, Tennessee for the last qualifying round to book a spot into the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The financial breakdown for our trip is as follows:

Travel - $7300 (20 flights @ $350; including ground transportation upon arrival)
Hotel - $1200 (assuming one night stay for all players and coaches)
Meals - $1800 (expecting to enter Saturday afternoon Nov.18 and depart Sunday morning Nov.19)

As a whole, we are doing our best to gather as much money possible and contribute it to this $10,000 goal. We want to keep our dream alive in advancing into this the U.S. Open Cup and hopefully being able to host the first round in our hometown city! There is only one way to do that and that is by getting to Nashville and coming out with the victory. We will need as much help possible and hope to make it happen.
Anything truly helps! We appreciate you all and thank you for your support in advance.
