Victims Of Sutherland Springs


Hello, All —

We are raising funds to assist with the after-life care and expenses for two victims of the Sutherland Springs tragedy, held most dear to the hearts of those who knew and loved them, Dennis and Sara Johnson. They are members of my extended family, grandparents to my first cousins, and two of the kindest people you would ever know.

A bit about Dennis and Sara:

They celebrated 44 years of marriage on July 27th. Their membership in the Sutherland Baptist congregation spanned 11 years. Prior to this, they were members of Floresville 1st Baptist Church for 25 years.

Dennis Neil Johnson Sr, born October 6th of 1940 in Rockford, Illinois, was an appointed church elder and a veteran of both the United States Navy Reserves and the Army National Guard. During his time in the US Navy (1984-1995), Dennis served as a Seabee in Operation Desert Shield and later joined the American Legion, a patriotic veterans association devoted to serving the community and fellow service members.

Sara Louise Johns Johnson, born February 25th of 1949 in Jasper, Florida, devoted her life to caring for children, both as a loving grandmother and a volunteer in a church nursery for over 30 years. She also  held a position with the Wilson County Tax Office for over 10 years; however, she was more recently employed with the locally-owned, Floresville business, Pfeil's Home and Garden.

Dennis and Sara are survived by their children: James Graham, age 51; Neil Johnson Jr., age 50; Deanna Staton, age 46; Michael Johnson, age 43; Kati Wall, age 29; Ryan Johnson, age 28, several beloved grandchildren, a 3 great-grand children and 1 on the way.

Contributions will be transferred to the children of Sara and Dennis immediately following the end of the campaign.
