Christopher Smith Funeral Fees
Donation protected
Hello,
I am Devon Smith. On December 1st, 2015 my brother Christopher Smith's battle against his deterioating health conditions ended suddenly. He fought against congestive heart failure, Kidney failure, and a plethora of other conditions. Although he fought his hardest in a fight that peaked around the same time last year, it became apparent that it was no longer possible for him to continue the fight. At the young age of 31 years old he left us.
Before this unfortunate event, our household was composed of myself, my brother, and my mother. Now it's just me and my mom. I am a third-year college student, and my mom has been working as a home health aid to support our family since I was a child. We were already struggling to make ends meet, trying to afford daily living expenses on top of the pile up of expensive medical fees. But recently, my mom hasn't been able to find patients to take care of through her company so we have been without income for a few weeks, and aren't sure how long this will last. Although we don't have much, this isn't something that we worry about as we have faith that we can make it work like we have been. However, we are not sure what we can do to cover the financial burden that will be left upon us when it comes to providing a funeral to my recently deceased brother.
Unfortunately, my brother didn't have any insurance at the time of his passing so the financial burden of this situation is seemingly more than we can handle. I created this campaign with the intention to raise as many funds as quickly as possible to go towards providing some sort of funeral ceremony for my brother and to alleviate at least some of the financial burden. I did some research and from what I read the aggregate expected cost of a funeral is between $7,000-$10,000 usually coming closer to the higher extreme. Although I don't expect to raise anywhere near that amount, I hope that we can raise as much as we can. Even if you can't donate personally, I still want to thank you if you read this far, as it means a lot to me and my family.
Thank you,
Devon Smith
