We invite you to paint smiles and improve the education of children in Guatemala. We seek: dignity, love and solidarity for boys and girls.

Start with a Smile Project    is nonprofit, apolitical, non-religious, and non-governmental, supports educational projects throughout the year by collecting school materials and cash donations so that young people can attend high school.

We have been improving the facilities of the elementary school of the elementary school "Las Delicias Del Jobo" of Taxisco Santa Rosa since 2017.



Poverty in southern Guatemala is a painful reality. The necessities that we take for granted are out of the reach of many families here. We all feel the warmth of the smiles of children. Since 2015 the communities of El Dormido and Las Delicias in southern Guatemala are our current focus. These communities have many basic needs for water, food, education and housing. The children are loving and lovable. The parents do the best they can with what they have, which isn’t much.  

  Your gift provides help, gives hope and makes a better tomorrow for someone who needs your support and love. Education is the best way to out of poverty. Actually, there are many regions in Guatemala that children are out of school.  Many children see their hopes for study as a remote dream.

                                                                                                                    Community Las Delicias
Aldea Las Delicias 
The school in the village of Las Delicias is located in Taxisco in the department of Santa Rosa, 90 kilometers from the capital. They live in an area that can only be reached by truck. Cars can't pass on over half the road. Running water is not available for half the community. Books and materials do not exist in the schools. The kids need a safe and healthy environment. The community is very poor, the residents are mostly peasants who have subsistence crops or work as laborers in the neighboring farms; what they produce from corn and beans is only to feed themselves and hopefully sell a little. Because there are very few opportunities to continue secondary and diversified studies and because of the drastic lack of basic protection goods and services, many of the girls begin motherhood at a very young age.

El Dormido 
The community of El Dormido is in Santa Rosa, in the southern part of Guatemala, 180 kilometers from the capital. El Dormido is a small fishing village where opportunities for work and improvement are scarce.
Due to poverty, the villagers have a poor diet; as a consequence, children show signs of malnutrition, which affects their health and development. One of the main problems of the community is because of its location on the seashore, away from commercial areas.
