Foreman House Homeless Shelter
Donation protected
Foreman House
Currently local agencies provide temporary shelter for the homeless for a few nights; Foreman House will provide shelter for up to three individuals and one small family, working with them to help them find permanent housing. Services will be provided such as job, housing, and education searches; their length of stay will vary from one night to six months.
On the first floor there will be a community shower for those homeless that live in a tent in the woods (yes they do exist). The office will be in that unit which will also be the emergency family unit with a food pantry for the residents of the building. There are two other apartments on the first floor as well. One will be for the homeless and one will be rented to help cover the costs of the building; (utilities, upkeep, taxes), this is Phase one, cost $25,000.
Phase two is the upstairs of the building with again two units being used for the homeless and one being rented to help cover the costs of the building. This phase will cost about $10,000 as the first phase will cover the repairs to the plumbing and heating systems that are new/old needing some repair. Phase three; $15,000 is for windows and siding, (and any roof repairs).
The costs include appliances, carpeting, drywall, paint and labor for plumbing and heating. Volunteer time has been figured in, materials donated has been figured in, the money needed is to get the work done in a timely manner and any unused funds will be used to support the program.
Together as a community we can do this and it will be an asset to the community. This can be the start of something great for our homeless as the Foreman House motto “is a hand up not a hand out.”
This is a gift that will keep on giving for years to come, donate with confidence.
