Teens Beat And Carjack Elderly Man
Donation protected
On the morning of Wednesday January 3, 2018 our 69 year old neighbor James (Jim) was brutally assaulted, robbed, and carjacked. While warming up his car to take his wife to the bank, a group of six teenagers jumped out of an SUV and threw Jim onto the street. He was fully cooperative and gave the attackers his wallet and car keys, yet they still viciously beat him. As they fled the scene, the assailants proceeded to run Jim over with his own car, crushing his hips. Shortly thereafter a neighbor across the street found Jim on the curb and brought him a blanket, while another called 911. Thankfully, the police were able to locate and apprehended the attackers. It is my understanding that the charges could include (but are not limited to) attempted murder. Jim was taken to Shock Trauma Medical Center and underwent surgery/ treatment for multiple fractures in his pelvic bone, internal bleeding, and multiple contusions. Jim will be in the hospital, and then in a rehab facility for approximately 6 weeks. It is uncertain when Jim will be able to walk again, let alone work. This could have happened to any of us. Jim and his wife Barbara are the sweetest neighbors and friends that we could ask for. They have very limited family in Maryland, and they did not deserve for this to happen to them. Jim obviously will not be returning to work anytime soon and he is the sole provider for their home. It is our goal to help alleviate some of the financial burden caused by this horrific incident.
